Control-a-Door Automatic Door Opener

The Control-a-Door No-Touch door system opens, closes, locks and unlocks doors with a remote control. This unique door opener allows you to enter and exit without touching the door and open and lock the door from the convenience of your living room, bedroom or office.

• Convenient & Secure
  The opening/closing function can be automated or activated with a remote control. For exterior doors, a remote control deadbolt can be added to the system.

• Safe
  The timing, speed and pressure are regulated by a computer that is programmed to disengage if the door movement is detained in any way.

• Non-Intrusive Installation
  The unit hangs on your door and fastens to the trim of the doorframe. The power supply can be hard wired or simply plugged in to an outlet.

The EATI BC Disability Grant

The EATI (Equipment and Assistive Technology Initiative) grant provides “a person with a disability who has employment-related goals (or volunteer goals leading to employment)” help in removing any barriers that hinder that goal.

This disability grant fully covers the purchase and installation of the Control-A-Door automatic door opener, allowing you to fully remove the “door barrier” by unlatching, unlocking, opening and closing any door in your home or apartment.

To be eligible for EATI, you must be:

• A person with a disability who has an employment-related goal. Remember, volunteering can be an important step toward employment.

• 18 years of age or older

• A BC Resident

• Unemployed OR employed with low skills (for example, low English literacy, incomplete high school) and looking to upgrade

• Ineligible for Employment Insurance (EI) 

  • Have not received an EI benefit in the past 3 years

  • Have not received an EI maternity or parental benefit in the past 5 years

• Able to demonstrate a need for assistive technology

• Unable to access funding through other programs

Part-time students who are available for work may be eligible for EATI.  People over the age of 65 who are available for work are also eligible.
